  7. Please help:
I’m using 24v solarpanels, a 24v solar charge controller and a 12v battery set up. Can I use a 12v puresign inverter or should I stick with a 24v signwave inverter????

  8. I concluded that separate panels charging individual batteries for individual rooms is the method most attractive. A singular set of batteries, once dead, will remove power everywhere.
Batteries in parallel feed into each other because they are not all the same voltage. Put batteries in series (qty10) and charge them up either with autonimous panels and higher voltage – or lower voltage and an automatic switching arrangement that would charge the batteries singularly.

  11. Nice set up! You might want to check craigslist for poly panels and ditch those harbor freight amorphous. I found 230w high voltage panels for $200 a peice. But awesome job on setting up that system!!!

  12. Nice set up. I have one question. When you are not running the things on your porch do you turn off the inverter?

  13. Great job just wondering about mounting to frame with angle iron wont the mounting react to the aluminium frame, using two different metals. I have been using wood frames myself for that reason.

  14. why do you have to keep filling the batteries with distilled water? is there a battery bank system that we can use that doesn’t require maintenance with distilled water?

By freejojoey on Mar 9, 2013

  15. Nice system! I’ve got the 45 watt Harbor Freight system and a 68 watt panel I built myself. You should play around with building panels yourself. It’s a lot cheaper than buying panels. It cost me $70 to build my 68 watt panel with 3″x6″ cells.

  17. Fully sustainable. I like the idea you’ve incorporated the rain water collection and hooking it to a pump, then supply it to your plants. Brilliant!

This has been setup 3-years ago(basing on the date uploaded), any updates you’ve done for the past 3 years? Improvement or upgrades?
