solar space heater -Solar Space Heater

** I built a low-cost solar heater to heat the first floor of my house. Building materials include 100 ‘of 4 “HDPE corrugated drain pipe, a 30-watt solar panel, a 4″ fan bilge and 1/2 “sheets of polystyrene.

  4. i wonder how this would work if in the loop of the black pipe you also had a collector like one of those box heaters.
winter is comming on here where i am, it gets cold but not as cold as some areas in the states. probably 50’s in the day.
or maybe say 10.c av mid winter. tho can have colder on those sunless days.
i will have to give this a try.

  5. I totally agree, my current plan is to put it in the middle as you suggest as the intake side is much quieter. I just need to go grab a couple of hose clamps. The solar panel also needs to be relocated. I want the hose to be exposed to the sun for a few minutes before the sun kicks the fan on. I also plan on adding a couple of dampers to reduce night time heat loss back into the pipe.

  6. If you mount the fan in the middle or out side it will be a lot quitter. your fan will last longer if its pushing the cool air as to pulling the hot air.
    Looks great.
