  26. I am off grid. To go on grid will cost $27K U.S. My present needs are to power my well pump to fill a 2500 gallon storage tank and another pump from the storage tank to my pressure tanks. Neither pump runs concurrently. I also need to power lights for my shop. Later, a small freezer, fridge, washer, dryer. I have a 6.5KW generator for back-up. I want to know what I need to solar porer as much as possible at an affordable cost.

  30. Nice video man, real informative, can you please help me figure out how to set up a solar pannel to run a 24,000 btu inverter ac during the day? thanks alot.

  31. I am trying to get a solar setup I was wondering if I could get power from my solar panels put It into a charge controller thought batteries into an inverter and power my house?

    By MRcoolcole1 on Mar 20, 2013

  32. I’ve read about systems). Power is generated by solar array and charges a battery bank poweri is taken from battery bank and run through the inverter to run one or more circuits from distibution Pannel when batterys run flat or at required level the automatic system switches across to grid power until batterys have recharged. Is this system a ups with an Ac transfer switch which means it transfers load between AC mains and solar power thanks for any help I want to go victron equipment

  33. In australia nsw they charge us 26 cents a kw and pay you 6 cents I was going to put up heaps of pannels until I found out you have to use the power your making straight away or it goes to the grid for them to sell back to me for 26 cents I’m not going to be a power station for them and have decided to go a smaller 2 kw system to run the fridge that’s on all the time I want to go a battery system to run of 5 kw but don’t know if I need a victron inverter or a inverter / charger

  40. What comes between an inverter and the appliances in the house? A regular electric panel with the same components and fuses as usual before feeding sockets and switches?

By Sauciflash on Mar 21, 2013

  41. This is great information i was looking for to decide to go solar, how it works. An great tutorial on a solar installation.

  42. I plan On building shipping container home, all lighting will be LED, But I still need power for Refridgerator, water pump, washing machine, electric water heater you know the big things in a house. Is there a site were I may calculate how big a system I need to power my home. It will be off-grid, Electric company wants over 5k plus every year there raising prices. Makes no sense going on the grid…

  43. This may have been covered in your other videos.. Bu how do I determine the physical size and the watts of the panels I need I’ve come up with everything from 3 panels to 00 panels with the formulas I have found online. NED HELP PLEASE

    By 54texasjack on Mar 21, 2013

  44. Thanks.
    1) Yes, correct.
    2) It’s an inverter / charger.

By mjlorton on Mar 21, 2013

  45. Thanks for the very useful video. two questions please please:

Do the grid tie inverter make me pull less energy from the grid? e.g if I generate 100 watts and the load is 1000 watts, will I pull only 900 watts from the grid(losses ignored)?

how come you use excess power out of the grid tie inverter and pass it to the other inverter to charge the battery? You need a charger not an inverter. The inverter is used to pull electricity from the battery not to charge it. Am I missing something here?

  46. how to calculate the voltage drop from the charge controller, power inverter and all the wiring for my small house, is there any meter to measure it . please give m the name of the meter..if i use a higher value of inverter, more voltage drop on it?

By takkikayo on Mar 21, 2013

  47. I’ve run my 350 watt drill of the car with a 600watt inverter a few times I just brought one 120ah rechargable battery 300$ need5 more for a nicer of grid setup not cheep

By busabaybe on Mar 21, 2013

  48. I’d say if you got some car batterys for free ones that would hold any charge and some cheep solar pannels damaged ones that still work and a pwm charge controler they are cheaper than mppt the biggest cost here would be an inverter wouldn’t matter how long it went for its all free power ?

By busabaybe on Mar 21, 2013

  49. Hi watt type of inverter is the blue one in the on grid setup is it the same as the red one thanks

By busabaybe on Mar 21, 2013
