solar heater panel -Large Solar Heater project.

June 1, 2012 – 3:32 am

** This is the third solar heater I worked for a while ‘. E ‘consists of a sliding glass door. I’m working on this for the winter months to keep the house warm. I am currently working at the stand to keep this beast in the back yard. I hope with all 3 drives my house will stay warm during the day without the help HVAC unit during the winter. 2. right on! hehe yep i would rinse them lol… i have a new idea I’m going to try on my next one building the inlet and outlet in a sorta upside down fish hook or ( L shape ) that the window lowers on to.. that way you just lift the window and remove the hole thing in the summer.

  3. Should I rinse the old beer out of the cans first? LOL j/k. :D I have looked at a lot of these videos, and yours is the first that has a window unit. I think thats a GREAT idea! I plan to make a couple of these. :) Thanks for posting!

  10. Looks really nice – Made mine out of sliding glass door windows as well. Just wondering if on the ends you would have been better off to have a thin piece of black sheet metal below the glass so that you don’t lose any heat because of the air going against the cold glass surface. Just a thought – not sure what difference it would make??

  11. pretty nice solar heater. have you got any temp readings on any yet? I built a second one for this winter, and so far it is working excellent with my heater from last year. Deffinately tell a difference using two.

  13. The unit is not adding any net heat to the room because it’s using light that was already coming in.

By HudsonKnowsEconomics on Jun 1, 2012

  14. The collector looks great. Do you expect to lose any efficiency having used glossy paint rather than flat, since some of the light will be reflected by the glossy black? Also, on the inside unit, since the inlet and outlet are on the same plane, what do you have inside to disperse thermal layer?

By robangelakids on Jun 1, 2012

  15. from a new sliding glass door yes, but this is an older sliding glass door, its not thermal glass.

    By nx2overide on Jun 1, 2012

  16. Quick question isn’t glass from a sliding glass door thermal glass which would reduce your results
