  2. Very nice install, but the foundation even in florida is a little overkill..How much such array cost?

  3. Doesn’t matter – kids will find a way. By the way, what’s the payback on this rig?

  6. Who needs high winds? Just a bored teen with a brick could kill this in seconds…

  7. What an absurd amount of time, money, and effort this is for no gain in…anything. As well, it’s a potential danger/shock hazard, and any bored teen with a few bricks can kill it in seconds. Go nuclear!

  8. 6 panels, 6 deep cycle batteries, a charge controller and a 2500 watt inverter should handle your needs then.

  9. Thanks, good info (which is rare!) I’m thinking about doing it not for cost savings, but for emergency lighting and water pump. We’d need only about 1000 or so watts to bridge the power gaps. Oh, and in between power outages to run an “attic fan” to keep the house cooler, run some inside lights, etc.

  10. I have a 10kw grount mount array and It saves me roughly $250 a month. My system cost me out of pocked (after state, local and federal taxes) $8k. So it pays for itself in about 3 years. But guess what? I was paying the $250 a month anyway.

  11. Looks like a great install, but I’d wager the “savings” is minimal or negative. Unless there’s just no service, I can’t see it. If there’s cost savings on these things I’d appreciate seeing it!

  13. With all the hurricanes we get in Florida, I wonder what wind speeds that install could handle?

How about a simple fade ?
